Madelyn Gates was clutch at the plate with runners on base on Monday, driving in four on three hits to lead Licking Heights Hornets past Newark Catholic 15-5 on Monday. Gates drove in runs on a single in the fourth and a triple in the fifth.

Licking Heights Hornets earned the victory despite allowing Newark Catholic to score four runs in the fourth inning. Newark Catholic’s big inning was driven by a home run by #13 and a groundout by #9.

Licking Heights Hornets fired up the offense in the first inning. Alissa West drove in one when West singled.

Licking Heights Hornets put up six runs in the fifth inning. Rylee Kennedy, Ava VonBargen, Gates, West, and Lily Reich all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Lydia Rauch earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle for Licking Heights Hornets. The bulldog went five innings, allowing five runs on three hits and striking out three.

#13 was on the rubber for Newark Catholic. The hurler surrendered 15 runs on 16 hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one.

Licking Heights Hornets saw the ball well today, racking up 16 hits in the game. Rauch, Gates, West, Lily Meidl, Alli Elliott, and VonBargen all managed multiple hits for Licking Heights Hornets. West, Gates, and Rauch each collected three hits to lead Licking Heights Hornets.
