Tonight’s season opener highlighted the Lady Hornets defensive skill sets, using their full court press and man to man and some zone coverages put the sting on Watkins Memorial in both the first and third quarters not allowing them to score. The effectiveness of our offense was showcased by strong guard and floor General, Mali Thornton, who lead our team with her season high 27 points, followed by our team Captain, Savanna Cronin who knocked down 11 points, Emily McCord, our Co-Captain lead us in rebounding and she chipped in 9 points and Michaela-Kay Dean, added her hustle and speed and hit 2 field goals for 4 points. Natalie Denson, Ellie Wright and Amya Thompson each helped with rebounding and defensive stops in the paint. Our wings play on defense shined with amazing hustle lead by Miya Bradley, and Sha’vona Little who both gave us some great minutes, and our newest Lady Hornets player Jasmine Stroh helped to complete our team’s performance by adding her presence and voice. The Lady Hornets swarmed in excellence tonight! Congratulations on your victory. We travel to Granville, Monday, December 2nd when we play last year’s County Semi-Champions. As this year’s defending champion we look forward to our next challenge!
We are leveling up!
